Brentford V Manchester United Postponed Amid Covid Concerns

It has been announced that Brentford’s game against Manchester United – scheduled for today (December 14) – has been postponed.

The fixture had previously been thrown into doubt following a small outbreak of Covid-19 among players and staff at United. You can read more about this here.

In order to tighten protocols, the club shut down their Carrington training complex for 24 hours, limiting players’ perpetration for Tuesday’s fixture.

After conversations with the Premier League, the game was subsequently postponed amid Covid concerns.

“The decision was taken following guidance from medical advisers due to the exceptional circumstances of an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak within Manchester United’s squad,” wrote the Premier League.

“The league wishes a quick recovery to those players and staff with Covid-19.”

They also went onto announce safety measures will be increased, similar to how they were during ‘project restart’ last season.

“With the health of players and staff the priority, and in light of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases across the country, the Premier League has reintroduced Emergency Measures.

“These include protocols such as more frequent testing, wearing face coverings while indoors, observing social distance and limiting treatment time.”

This comes after they revealed that 42 new cases among club players and staff had been recorded – the highest since testing results began last May – casting potential doubt over the season continuing.
