Diddy Reclaims Sean John Brand

Diddy has reclaimed his iconic streetwear label, Sean John

The rapper has regained control of his brand for $7.155m, report WWD.

He first established Sean John in 1998 and it quickly became popular in hip-hop fashion. However, he sold the majority interest to GBG back in 2016, and retained a 10 percent stake.

But “the relationship with GBG turned rocky in recent years” and “Combs filed a lawsuit against GBG seeking $25 million for ‘false endorsement, misappropriation of likeness and violating his publicity rights’”.

A second lawsuit was also filed “from his nonprofit, Citizen Change, over GBG’s use of the phrase “Vote or Die,” a trademark owned by the organisation.”

These lawsuits have now been dropped.

Efforts to reclaim the brand began in early December, and Diddy has now prevailed in succeeding the reclamation of Sean John.
