Emilia Clarke, Michael Shannon and Dane DeHaan are to star in new biopic, McCarthy.
According to Variety, Scoot McNairy finishes off the ensemble. Shannon claims the titular role as U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy.
The new film depicts the rise and fall of the powerful, titular senator and his group of enablers, including his wife Jean Kerr (Clarke), lawyer Roy Cohn (DeHaan) and his friend Ray Kiermas (McNairy).
McCarthy will be directed by Václav Marhoul and produced by Zach Studin and Tom O’Connor.
Clarke, best known for her defining role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones, is currently working on Marvel’s upcoming, Secret Invasion.
Shannon has previously starred in films including The Iceman, Man of Steel, The Shape of Water and Nocturnal Animals. He is currently working on action-thriller Bullet Train and comedy film Shriver.
DeHaan played Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He is also known for his starring role in A Cure For Wellness and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. His last performance was in the Apple TV series, Lisey’s Story.
Production will begin in Prague and the US in the fall of 2022.
