American football star and Super Bowl champion Demaryius Thomas has died at the age of 33.
According to TMZ Sports, Thomas was found dead by police at his home in Roswell, Georgia, on Thursday night.
In a statement, Officer Tim Lupo from the Roswell Police Department said: “Preliminary information is that his death stems from a medical issue, and our investigators currently have no reason to believe otherwise.”
Thomas, who announced his retirement from the NFL in June, played wide receiver for the Denver Broncos and helped the team win their third Super Bowl championship during the 2015 season.
DeMarcus Ware, one of Thomas’s ex-teammates posted a tribute picture to the NFL star on social media, writing in the caption: “Heartbroken.”
