‘Julie And The Phantoms’ Cancelled After One Season

Netflix has cancelled its musical series, Julie and the Phantoms, after just one season on the platform.

Announcing the news via Instagram was the show’s director, Kenny Ortega, who thanked fans for their ongoing support.

“Our @julieandthephantoms family want to send our love and endless thanks to our Fantoms all over the world for the tremendous outpouring of love and support you have shown us since our premiere.”

“We learned this week that Netflix will not be picking us up for another season,” said Ortega.

“Although our hearts are saddened, we move on with such pride for what we accomplished as a team and the family we built while creating Julie. We hope you will continue to follow us as we move forward with our work and careers.”

Julie and the Phantoms made its debut on Netflix on September 10 and is based on the Brazilian series, Julie e os Fantasmas.

The show followed high school musician Julie Molina (Madison Reyes) who struggles to create music after the death of her mother.

After accidentally summoning three musical spirits, the unlikely group decide to form a band.
