Keira Knightly is to star in Boston Strangler, a new feature by 20th Century Studios.
Deadline reports that Matt Ruskin has been enrolled to direct the project.
Ridley Scott and Kevin Walsh will produce through Scott Free, alongside Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap Entertainment.
The film is based on the true story of Loretta McLaughlin (played by Knightley), the first reporter to connect the Boston Strangler murders. Along with Jean Cole, she challenged sexism in the 1960s to keep women alert to danger.
Keira Knightley is best known for her roles in Pride & Prejudice, Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Duchess. Most recently she has featured in the comedy film Silent Night, due to release in December, and the animated picture ‘Charlotte’.
Production is scheduled to begin in December in Boston.
