Rajon Rondo has revealed that he nearly cried during his big return to the Lakers over the weekend, after fans gave him a standing ovation.
Rondo made his second debut for the Lakers on Sunday, October 3 in their game against the Brooklyn Nets.
The Basketball star first played for the Lakers back in 2018, but left the team in 2020 after only playing with them for two seasons.
Speaking to TMZ, Rondo said that the welcome he had received from the home crowd at the game nearly reduced him to tears.
“I almost cried again last night. It means everything. I was away for a year… came back and the reception I got last night, I had to try to focus on the game,” he said.
“The love I got, the attention from the crowd getting back in the game. It was amazing,” he added.
Although Rondo is back with the Lakers for the current NBA season, he is not expected to play much for the team.
