Two More Premier League Clubs On High COVID-19 Alert

The Premier League’s Christmas fixture list could be in doubt following the recent COVID-19 outbreak among clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur were the first to be hit by the crisis, returning thirteen positive lateral flow tests in one day among the first team set up. You can read more about this here.

It resulted in their Europa Conference League tie against Rennes, and league game against Brighton, being postponed.

Over the weekend, Manchester United emerged as another victim of a COVID-19 outbreak, with a handful of players and staff testing positive.

The good news – if any – is that the first-team collective who travelled to Norwich on Sunday all tested negative prior to their 1-0 win.

As of right now, United’s game against Brentford is set to go ahead as planned on Tuesday.

The second club on high alert is Aston Villa – who cancelled a recovery session as a result of one positive test.

As more positive tests come to light, the Premier League could be forced to revisit their congested Christmas schedule.

But for now, with clubs tightening their Covid protocols, all midweek fixtures are set to go ahead as planned.
